Friday
On friday I was able to leave work a couple hours early as we are a little slow right now so I figured I would give Danger a call as I haven't talked to him for a few months. After talking to him for a couple of minutes I found out he had tried calling me 10 min. earlier to see if I could ride in a flowshow that night cause Bakers Volvo engine shat the bucket in Merritt and they needed a third person for the show. The trouble was he had my old phone number and couldn't get ahold of me but I randomly called him, so I had no plans and figured what the hell, Flow-time. Danger figured the show was at 8pm so I was to head down at 7pm. Martine and I we were on the bus heading to the sea bus Dan called and told me he found out the show was at 9:15-9:45, cool, the best part about doing the shows is sitting there waiting to ride.Upon arriving at Canada Place I was informed the show was for adults, Wells Fargo's top 800 mortgage brokers in the US of A. They were all flown up here for a weekend of appreciation with their significant other and we were one of the shows to entertain them in between the drinking and dancing. The show set up was cool consisting of a couple skinny lines, step down and one jump but the coolest thing was that it was all on carpet(softer than concrete).
The show was going pretty good so in the last 10 min. I had an idea, but I had to move the tranny and kicker as it was pretty close to the crowd and I didn't want to risk hitting one of them if it didn't go as planned, also opened the doors into the hallway so I could get a little more run in space but didn't tell anyone what the plan was. I was getting a little nervous but after doing a couple run in dead sailors to gauge speed, I committed in my head feeling it, hands off the brakes and start pedaling, 1/2 way though rotation I thought "crap" but then at 3/4 it changed to "looks good" and when both wheels touched "F YA". After the crowd quieted down I grabbed the mic and explained to the crowd that it has been 5 months since I had done a backflip because the last 2 had ended in injury, a good crowd works wonders with your confidence. Mighty Mike and Darhma hit the step down again and in my head I could hear myself say "anyone can do anything once, twice means it not just luck". With that thought I had to do it again even though I was happy with one success. Turns out the second was even smoother, cool shows over, time for a beer or 2.
