Yorick Carroux often works as a hired gun at Red Bull events and at the Adidas Slopestyle. His images are then offered to publications like ours to go along with stories from the events - which means his images have been presented here before. I recently learned that euro Yorick actually lives here in B.C. - dividing his time between the North Shore and Whistler. YC grew up in Switzerland, spent five years working out of Munich and then headed west and landed in our little paradise. Recently he's climbed several 4000m peaks - and 5600m Mt. Damavand in Iran - just to ride his snowboard down. Have a look at Yorick's Web site to get a feel for his work. |

...last light, a good position for a flash
to give the rider a nice silhouette.........and on top, the reflection
in the puddle is great... |

| ..what a great graphic...nice! You caught
the trick perfectly, and the position in the photo is very good. normaly,
I don´t like it when you can´t see the landing, but it
works well with the cables from the lift. Also the late afternoon
light makes the photo work. |

Third place. Rider ~ Andreu

..a nice event shot. You caught
Ben Boyko in the right moment and it is not easy to make a tailwhip
look good! The light, the clouds and the colours are great, the only
thing you could do better - for my taste - is the rider is too perfect
in the center. It would make it more interesting if the rider was
offset in some way. |

Honourable Mention 1. Rider ~ Ben Boyko Photo
~ Anthony Brey Oddly the originally posted version of this
shot has disappeared. I can only guess that it was deleted by the
photographer.
| ...this is the feeling of mountainbiking.
I like the diagonal border from shade to sun - it splits
the shot in two. The shot would be even better if you had taken
the shot two seconds earlier. |
