What a ride this has been.  We had some growing pains to begin with and several rule adjustments had to be made.  We got some great input from the judges as well as from our bulletin board members (not always constructively phrased but always useful!) and eventually we got it dailled in.

The same goes with the finals - only this time it was the competitors who suggested a change.  We inititally were going to split the prizes between the online voting and the judges tally.  Mike Reid and Kaleb Trozzo, who were leading in the poll decided that while they appreciated the support they were getting from the unwashed masses, they would prefer to be judged on an even playing field by the pros.  So all the prizes will be awarded based on the final tally from Sterling Lorence, Ian Hylands, Stephen Wilde, Harookz and our very own David Ferguson.

The prizes are:
First prize is the unbelievable Rocky Mountain Slayer you see below.  It's a magnificent ride.
Second prize is $1000 from Denny's and a place in the Cove Productions Calendar for 2007.
Third prize is a Whistler Bike Park Season Pass.
Fourth Prize is $250 from the good people at Cove Productions.

Each judge gave me their choices between first and fourth place.  We assigned a point value for each ranking.  A first place ranking is worth 5 points, second is worth 3, third is worth 2 and fourth is worth 1.  We did it this way so that you would need at least one first place vote to win the beautiful bike you see below.  As it turned out the winner received three first place votes but more on that shortly.

The judges deliberated long and hard and sweated over their choices.  Three different shooters received at least one first place vote so the competition was very tight.

While I have your attention I would like to thank everyone who entered the contest and made it such a success as well as our generous sponsors for supporting a first-year event - it was a real vote of confidence for us.
