Week Two Winner
Harookz' choices...

March Prizing brought to you by Helly Hansen

It's Week Two of Money Shots '07, and things are ramping up. The quality of the 224 shots submitted this week is impressive, and they covered all of the photographic bases: black & white, colour, action, beauty, artistic, adventurous, mind-boggling, you name it. Hopefully, they made you want to get out and ride.

This week's judging tasks were up to Harookz. As always, there were no instructions - just to pick the photos he liked. Here are the shots that floated his boat. Thanks as always for sharing your expertise.

And a big congrats to the winner - he picks up a Helly Jaeger jersey and Black Stripe jersey, as modelled by Matt Hunter. Give me a shout with your sizing info, and we'll get you the goods. Every winner in March will receive a prize from Helly Hansen - and then the grand prize winner gets a prize from the next level - as well as a ticket to the finals.

Stuart Kernaghan

The Jaeger jersey...

and the Black Stripe jersey.

1st Place: Beautiful angle paying close attention to the placement of the rider (I've shot this line before and there's only a couple angles that work and this is one of them), the ocean/mountain backdrop is priceless, good decision going with the b&w route, nice contrast, the timing is bang on... I only have good things to say about this photo! Congrats!

2nd Place: "Epic/Soulful/Moody/Spiritual. .." this photo is a good example of every term found in the art school dictionary. The b&w application worked well, the fog and single bike gives me a cold solitary feel, the composition provides depth for my eyes to follow...  It's a simple photograph that doesn't show any riding action but you nailed it, nice work!!

3rd Place: I love the elements you incorporated into this shot, getting up high to capture the valley below with the lake. What a beautiful area! I just wish the rider wasn't smack dab in the middle of the frame.

Honorable Mention: Solid composition! I've shot this wall before and I know how sketchy it is to be shooting from where you are! Lots of good stuff going on here: the timing, the decision to roll with the b&w, the contrast is perfect. I would have liked to see you crank up that shutter speed to at least the 1/640th mark on this one for a crispy blur free photo.

Honorable Mention: I like what you were going for here, looks great! How about re-shooting this nug on a day without sun-spots?

Wanna give props? Think the runner up should have been the winner? Fire away with your comments.
