Sterling told us why he chose the first place image before it was bumped so he thought he should let everyone know what caught his eye about his second choice - this week's eventual winner which can be seen below.  Few readers had any doubt about Sterling's original first choice - the shot that was eventually disqualified - but many had questions about buddy riding the rusty iron roof.

Here's what he had to say.

1) First off, I have only ever been asked to choose the best shot. for the first two weeks but I couldn't resist to add a few others behind the number one that caught my eye. When I move through all the images the majority of them have such great energy and stoke to them. Photographically they have issues like composition, focus, lighting and quality of actio but many express our sport and its culture well. So it is a fine balance between all these parameters.

2) I chose this wall ride image for its energy. You can hear the racket of the rusty old sheet roofing as the rider slammed up it. I also appreciate the stoke of these riders out there pushing their boundaries and finding creative lines. They might not have a Whistler Bike Park to access but they are making the most of what they have. I can see the old man in the window yelling out at these bros to stop hittin his roof. Knowing and having worked with Wade Simmons, this is the type of rider creativity and fun that he gets fired up on.

3) Photographically the light is only okay and could have been complemented with some strobes to help fill some light on the rider. Composition is a little tight but I do like that the rider is at his high point and also at the top of the frame. If the rest of this setting was interesting, I may have shot this image a little looser (ie. wider - Ed.) to tell more of a story. Let's see the rest of the garage, the pickup truck, and the barking dog. Overall a shot like this probably would look more genuine and real as is, shot the way it was, rather than getting some honcho pro guy and his honcho photographer to try and make it all clear and perfect. Wouldn't be the same.

4) Let me say again, that I appreciate studying every shot that has been contributed and thoroughly enjoy the creative energy and riders stoke that live in every one of the shots. The grass-roots soul is where it's at - you can trust me on that.

peace, sterl.
