Week Sixteen Winner
Harookz' final weekly choices...
Brought to you by:

, Different bikes Whistler Mountain Bike Park and Denny's

All the shots are in.  In 16 weeks Money Shot attracted 3126 images from photographers all over the world.  Quantity is easy on the internet - but quality is tougher to find.  Shooting mountain biking is often challenging;  light in the woods is hard to come by, the action is fleeting and tough to reproduce and the environment is often unforgiving.  Despite these limitations we saw world class entries week after week and the quality actually increased over the course of the contest.  Week sixteen is filled with stunning shots - Harookz had his work cut out for him.  He put it together though and below you'll see his choices.  He'll sort through his weekly choices and toward the end of this week we'll have the May winner - who will score an amazing set of King Earl Wheels with Carbon Fibre hub inserts.  They're light, strong and fast.

The May Winner, along with the finalists from February, March and April will have another week to shoot a shot for the finals or choose a shot from their personal archive (hint to shooters - newer shots are better!).  The winner will be chosen from the second photo entered by each photographer and then one of the four finalists will roll away on a 2006 Rocky Mountain Slayer - currently being built up and soon on display at Different Bikes in West Van.

We'll ask Sterling Lorence, Stephen Wilde, Ian Hylands, Harookz along with David Ferguson to choose the winner.  We'll also give you a chance to vote on the shot you feel should win.  The panel will decide who gets the bike and the masses will decide who gets the $1000 from Denny's.  It could be the same person but it may not.

The shooter below will soon be the proud owner of a pair of light, burly and beautiful Bontrager Big Earl Wheels.  These are the most adaptable wheels on the globe; you can use them for 6 bolt or centre lock discs and the rear wheel can be converted from QR to either 10 or 12mm thru axle using adapter kits.

Once again the winning shooter took multiple places and you'll see the same name below the first and second place images.

Mike Reid's new Bontrager King Earl Cranks.

The King Earl Cranks go to...

1st place - The lighting work is phenomenal! Underexposing the background and flashing the rider creates great separation. The timing is bangin! (The trick is full of style too, nice one Ryder!) Incorporating the lush vegetation in the foreground along with the silhouetted trees complement the stellar lighting work, resulting in a strong still. Solid win!

Second Place - The Dominican Republic is sure a sweet place to shoot, I actually remember seeing this particular drop there... I like how you can see the down slope singletrack run-in. This shot was very well executed despite the roachy sun-spotted lighting conditions.

Third place. Great use of natural light here! Good decision to go with a long-lens to blur the background which really brought out the rider and the stunt.

3rd Place. Rider ~ Matt Juhasz.  Photo ~ Stephen Milligan.   *Note* I cropped this to fit the page. Click image to see original file.

Honourable Mention - You were definitely on the right track with this one! The sunset is so epic! I think a "Money Shot" winner could have been photographed here if the rider was a bit brighter and if the shot was composed differently.

Honourable Mention - Nice one! I think you need to show a bit more of the lip so the "noobs" can decipher that a corked-flip is goin' down.
