Race Face UFC IV - The final 4 of the sweet 16
If you know what I mean

So the one-two punch of a couple of riding buddies took the prize for last week with Brooks and Gatzka picking up almost 51% of the vote.  Darrell Knelson was second with 30% leaving Ryan Berrecloth and  James Doerfling to pick up the scraps.

This week's group is quite varied.  We get a rider bouncing of trees, one with a mullet, a fan of big, natural lines and one who seems able to combine style and substance.

Joe Perrizo - age 20

I'm generally not much of a trials fan - although I always enjoy watching Ryan Leech.  Despite that I really enjoyed watching what Joe Perrizo can do on a bicycle.  He's got more tree moves than Tarzan and everything's pulled with an exuberent smoothness.  He calls the riding he does 'freetrials' and much of what he displays would fit in with the street crowd.  The only way we'll see whether he lands this front flip is if he makes it through to the next round which I suppose is the idea.  Voters will have to decide whether what Joe pulls fits in with the UFC formula. Hearing actual bike noises instead of the thrash du jour was a nice change and a sign that Joe was not just following the crowd.

Derek Alexander - age 19

Derek's 'party in the back' haircut is proof that he's got commitment.  I really like the rowdy riding style he tosses up but his vid suffers from a lack of variety and an excess of silhouette shots. He also could use some more style in the air - his final roadgap move in particular isn't much more than a bar turn.

Jonas Green - age 24

Jonas drops some large vertical in a bony and unforgiving land.  His opening two drops in particular are man-sized.  Unfortunately Jonas hasn't yet reached the point where he can style a drop or a big gap.  Or if he can he didn't show us that here.  His most memorable move is the nasty steep line he finishes up with and the helmet cam without any soundtrack gives us a chance to see what he saw.

Steve Tuchiwsky - Age 19

Steve's video looks pretty polished against this competition.  Everything he pulls out has some nice style - even the really large moves.  On top of flair we get a little speed thrown in.  The one-foot table is a nice touch and overall there is a good balance between release moves, whips and table tops.  Steve was the runner up for last year's AIRprentice comp so I may be biased.  Please take that into consideration when tallying your own vote.
