SRAM
and RockShox to Sponsor Santa Cruz™ Syndicate Race Team
|
For the next two years bike racing fans can expect to see one of the hottest teams riding one of the hottest bikes and featuring some of the hottest components – did we mention this is hot?
| The Santa Cruz Syndicate team (SCS) will be home to some of the world’s fastest riders and will feature SRAM and RockShox drivetrain and suspension. SRAM is extremely proud to announce the two-year partnership with Santa Cruz Syndicate Manager Derin Stockton. The SCS team will consist of current World Cup Downhill (DH) Champion Nathan Rennie and former Slalom Champion and perennial DH favorite, Kirt Voreis. Also riding for the ‘Syndicate’ will be two of the most notable up and comers on the planet, current Junior DH National Champ Henry O’Donnell and national team member Cameron Zink. Travelling with the team and serving in various capacities is Johnny Waddell, who suffered severe injuries in an ’03 crash. Riding the ultra-distance events will be Mark Hendershot, who will compete in 24 hour, Marathon and self-maintained endurance events. |

The Santa Cruz Syndicate will be racing the full compliment of World Cup and NORBA races with their eyes focused on another World Cup Championship jersey. Stockton emphasized that the non-traditional set-up of the team allows them greater flexibility and that the team wants to be seen “wherever there is an event.”
SRAM’s North American Race Manager John Dawson was “stoked” to sign with the Santa Cruz program and added that “this team is extremely professional and so well run that we can’t wait to work with them. And the fact is they are the coolest people to partner with, I am really looking forward to it.”
Helping seal the deal was the close relationship SRAM has maintained with BlackBox athletes Kirt Voreis and Nathan Rennie. According To BlackBox Program Manager Jeremiah Boobar, “both riders have a great feel for suspension and drivetrain and can put our components through the ultimate tests.” BlackBox is SRAM’s racing development program and several riders will be featuring BlackBox componentry, check www.blackboxracing.com for more details.
The team will be riding SRAM X.0 Rear Derailleurs, X.9 Trigger Shifters, X.0 Grip Shift Twist Shifters, PowerChains, PowerGlide II Cassettes, as well as X.9 Rear Derailleurs. Suspension products will include the RockShox Boxxer, SID, Psylo and Duke.
