SRAM kicks off the season
at the Sea Otter Classic

New X.9 components, plus new cranks and DJ forks

Chicago, IL - April 11, 2006 - SRAM welcomed the throngs of international press attending Sea Otter by hosting them for a mountain bike product introduction. New gear from SRAM, RockShox, Avid and Truvativ was revealed to the media in the expo space on Friday afternoon.

First, SRAM introduced some new X.9 components. A new X.9 trigger shifter, a new X.9 front derailleur, and a redesigned X.9 rear derailleur were unveiled. Lots of high polished alloy and visible style cues from the ‘best in class’ X.0 gear can be seen in the new shifter and derailleur. The X.9 front derailleur sports a wide spaced alloy clamp body making the new derailleur a great addition to the drivetrain offerings.

Thomas Frischknecht stopped by to help introduce the new Avid Juicy Ultimate brakes. Juicy Ultimate is the new lightweight XC brake with a svelte magnesium lever body and thin wall carbon lever blade, combined with a one piece Monoblok caliper. The new carbon lever blade has been optimized for weight while keeping that great Juicy feel and strength.

Also, a brand new Truvativ crankset was shown. Noir cranksets push the boundaries for light weight and excellent shifting performance.

Developed for both road and mountain varieties, the cranksets feature a new chainrings finish and new ‘Hard Core Technology’, or HCT for short…new line of cranks break new ground. Noir utilizes the proven GXP external bearing bottom bracket.

Dirt Jumpers Carlo Dieckmann and Jamie Goldman were on hand to help kick off the introduction of the new RockShox Argyle.

Argyle is the new fork designed specifically for the dirt jump set. Be on the look out for athletes sporting the fresh new color, ‘Punish-Mint’.

At the ever-popular SRAM Dirt Jump Invitational, many of the top athletes were seen putting the new Argyle thru its paces.

Even with less than ideal weather, the ten finalists threw down Sunday afternoon in the finals. In the end, it was Timo Pritzel on top of the podium. Timo rides SRAM X.0 shifters and derailleurs, RockShox Argyle fork, Avid Juicy Carbon brakes, and Truvativ handlebar, stem, seatpost, pedals and Holzfeller crankset.
