| Sombrio for 2005 |
Steve Romaniuk, a 19 year old from Kelowna BC, used to travel the local motocross series competing as a junior, until picking up a mountain bike at 15. He stills rides moto, but changed his focus to bikes after a few knee surgeries and some early successes in the Freeride scene. Steve had a successful year in 2004 with standout segments in The Collective and as a traveling rider in the Drop in TV series. Steve has recently re-signed contracts with Specialized Bikes and Adidas eyewear and is poised for another solid season. Steve is one of the few riders who charges the biggest gaps on earth and stomps them one after another. The first time I met him he was building booters 10 feet back from the gap so he could "get pop for a trick”. 2005 sees more of the same as he plans his summer - balancing time filming with the Collective, Ryan Gibb, Torque, Back In the Saddle and trips to Europe to compete in upcoming ‘Slope Style’ events as well as the second annual Crankworx festival in Whistler.
Steve joins the likes of Sombrio founder Dave Watson, Andrew Shandro as well as Geoff Gulevich, Glyn O’Brien and Ben Reid. Read more about Steve's upcoming season and our power house of athletes in our Team section at sombriocartel.com
