Bike companies do their best to match components and make everything look sweet and cohesive when they spec a bike. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. A bike built from scratch can be a little tougher but sometimes a custom build turns out sweeter than any product manager could muster. Our Money Shot Slayer worked out just like that. We had a leg up from Rocky because they sent us one of their Special Edition frames - The Slayer Cult. Every Rocky is built by hand from the ground up and I've seen them work on the masking process. Each bike is stencilled individually by one person - perhaps artisan might be a better title - so each one is distinct. The results are spectacular when you combine rich powder coating with sections of exposed aluminum. Everything is clear coated to finish up so it can handle your abuse. There aren't many companies who still build bikes in house and Rocky does it like nobody else.
We'll be announcing the winner of this perfect ride this Friday - June 9th. If you want to get a look at it and you live nearby roll down to Different Bikes in West Van. They might even let you fondle it. If you can't get there scroll down and see pimptastic finished product.
Thanks to Rocky Mountain, Fox Shox, Syncros, Magura and Race Face for helping us put together a world-class prize for Money Shot.
If you haven't had a chance to check out the finalists shots have a look at their stunning shots here.

This is the very bike. It's a Slayer Cult Special Edition frame rolling on Fox suspension, Syncros Components, Magura Louise brakes, Race Face cranks and a SRAM XO drivetrain. It built like it was meant to be. Click image to see it in all its glory.

I may have to invoke Royal Privilege for the first night on this one and get it dirty first. Click image to enlarge.

We could have gone lighter on the fork and used a Fox 36 Float but we went for plush instead with the coil-spring Fox Van 36 RC2. It's still only 5.45 lbs - 1/4 lb heavier than the Talas. For Rubber we chose Syncros Point 'N Chute 3s. They are beefy and offer plenty of grip but the kevlar bead keeps the weight down. For hoops we chose Syncros DS28s. Tough enough for the gnarl but still nice and light. I've used these on my DH bike. Click image to enlarge.

Magura Louise FR brakes handle the stopping duties to perfection. 190mm rotors, plenty of power and the best modulation in the business. Click image to enlarge.

Race Face Atlas cranks are my personal favourites. All Slayers ship with a custom valved Fox Float RP3 rear shock. The Money Shot Slayer comes with the best pedals ever made - Syncros Mental Alloy. Click image to enlarge.

Shut Up. SRAM XO Triggers with carbon upper covers - with adjustable positioning. A Syncros Race Stem and Gain bar as well as Syncros Locking Grips. Click image to enlarge.
Money Shot prizes were provided by the following sponsors - thanks very much!
