WORLD'S BEST FREE-RIDE MOUNTAIN BIKE RIDERS
GATHER IN UTAH DESERT TO COMPETE IN
"RED BULL RAMPAGE"

Facts

What: Red Bull Energy Drink is hosting the second annual, invitational only, men's mountain bike free-ride competition, Red Bull Rampage, featuring the world's top mountain bikers. Riders are chosen based on their proven results in downhill, dual slalom and overall free-riding ensuring the highest level of competition and safety for this unique event.

Where: Chosen backdrop for this heart-stopping event will be near Zion National Park on the red hills outside of Virgin, Utah on the Kolob Reservoir Road (35 miles NE of St. George) where only the best mountain bikers dare to test their skills.

When: October 10-13, 2002

Why: Last year, Bike Magazine and Red Bull Energy Drink pulled off the most talked about mountain bike free-ride competition based on the technical advances in the sport of mountain biking. The competition site for Red Bull Rampage offers spectacular views and extremely challenging terrain for even the best mountain bikers in the world. The array of ridges, drops and technical lines with soft landings and long run outs are featured in popular mountain bike films. Athletes will take to the gravity to determine who will be crowned the winner and own a piece of the $10,000 prize purse.

The format is similar to an extreme skiing contest, where competitors choose their own line and difficulty level within a designated location. Athletes are scored on this gravity-powered competition based on the following criteria: difficulty of line, style, amplitude, fluidity, and overall impression.

Who: The world's best mountain bikers, photographers, video producers, and Bike Magazine. For registration please contact Patrice Paul at Red Bull Communications at 310-460-5344 or Patrice.paul@us.redbull.com. For additional event information, check out www.redbullrampage.com.
