Paul B. catches a ride with Race Face

Vancouver, B.C. – Paul Basagoitia’s surprise attack on the freeride comp circuit last year continues to attract sponsorship from category leaders in the bike industry, as Race Face Performance Products today announced that they have signed the freeride phenom to their all-star freeride team. Paul will employ Race Face’s leading-edge components and apparel as he continues to push freeriding’s boundaries.

A BMX protégé hailing from Minden, Nevada, Paul B. jumped onto many people’s radar screen at the Sea Otter last year when he almost landed a nearly unheard-of backflip tailwhip (FlipWhip). Paul followed that up with a Crankworx-winning performance that featured a backflip over the step-up to the scaffolding and a tail whip off the scaffolding. Paul then took 3rd at the Bike Magazine Monster Park Slopestyle Invitational and ended the year with a 2nd place finish at the Red Bull Bike Battle in Baltimore, MD.

"I'm really excited to have Paul join our freeride team.  He's tremendously talented and at 17 years old, his potential is scary," says Race Face's Marshall Rutman.  "We've kept an eye on him since his attempted flip whip at the Sea Otter Classic.  To push the progression of a sport by trying something that nobody else is even considering commands a lot of respect.  At Race Face we design products using that same leadership philosophy, so in a very real sense, Paul is an accurate personification of our brand."

Paul B. joins Race Face’s all-star team of freeriders, including Darren Berrecloth, Matt Hunter, Wayne Goss, Tyler Klassen, Robbie Bourdon, Dave Watson, Jordie Lunn, Brett Tippie, John Cowan and Joe Schwartz.

Paul’s riding is featured in the Race Face sponsored Freeride film – NWD V – Disorderly Conduct.  You can also view Paul’s bio/pictures and video in the team section of Race Face’s new web site – RaceFace.com.
