Week five and April begins. Stephen's choice will be our first of four shooters who will jostle for one of two spots in the finals. This month of the contest brings you prizing from Syncros.
The winner for this week gets a Syncros Bulk Bar, as well as an FR Stem and a pair of Syncros' Four Bolt Locking Grips. That should spice up your cockpit to be sure.
One of us will be back to decide the weekly bonus winner who takes home an nsmb BroCard and one of our new Tees.
Here are Stephen's thoughts on the shots from Week Five.

Deluxe prizing from Syncros.
Ok here's the deal.
I’ve gone through the gallery
Twice.
I’ve looked at everything.
Some 7 times.
Others once.
I know if I were a member of the Professional Photographers of Canada the winner’s circle would look different. But I’m not. Those guys are sort of weird. Putting babies onto roses!
Week 4 Winner
India. The crop is a bit strange and the rider's face is a bit dark... but...
This is shot in India!! Two wheelers going down hills in India with a striking
blue sky and some nice little pieces of dirt flying! Front tire showing some
motion
yet the rider's arm tight and sharp! The low angle is good. Interesting. Tight
to the guy with
the camera. For a really nice shot... I’d want to see it two snaps
later with the rider covering the tree in the background and more drift.

That's right - India- Photographer: Sami Makki || Rider: VinayKumar Menon
Second place

Spokane Washington- Photographer:Nick
Thresher ||
Rider: Eric (Check
out the original!.)
Number two.
Number two and three are close.
The professional photographers of Canada would choose three for the nice technical
abilities
but I like the harshness of this b&w. The light is intense. But intensity
of the flash accentuates the
rider's aggression! Good separation between the rider and background. Tricky
with blacks. Crisp but also just enough wheel motion to indicate movement.
There needs to be some motion. A frozen rider is, in
my opinion, just frozen in time.
Needs a touch more separation on the front tire/dirt. Dodge. Not dodge ball.
Third place

Germany. Photographer: Christoph
Laue ||
Rider: Stefan Leng
(Have
a closer look at that dirt.)
Nice use of flash.
A bit of old school pop-and-drag style, which is cool. A lot of good panning
motion yet fairly crisp action. My eye is directed through the entire
shot yet keeps coming back to the rider's face - the highlight of the shot.
Nice to be able
to see an eye in there focused on the trail indicating a degree of concentration.
The log in the foreground
bugs me by blocking the tires... but does work by creating a line to keep my
eye moving through the shot.
Really nice color.
This would have placed higher but it wasn't shot in India!

Calgary .Photographer: Tyler Reid ||
Rider: Terry (Bigger!.)
Number four.
Nice layers. Nice contrast. Nice time of day.
A slight crop would improve this shot.
Crop out the brightest tree on the left and the
power pole top middle.
And I know... reflectors for safety and all... but not in this shot.
I like the foreground grass a lot, but in this case, my eye goes to the grass
before the rider as the grass is brighter than the rider. I’d burn down
the grass. Not with fire. The burn tool!

- Photographer:Simon Finlay|| Rider: Reece Kuhn (The
original is the same size.)
Number five.
This is the look I’ll get from the shooters I didn't choose.
And for the order I chose them in.
This is nice lifestyle.
I love lifestyle and there's never enough of it here.
Nice shallow depth of field with nice separation from the background.

Right here on the North Shore. Photographer:Bill
Hawley || Rider:Cam Pasternack
Number six.
I love the contrast and saturation.
Professional photographers of Canada
would have a nice time critiquing this overuse of saturation.
Special Mention 2

Alberta. Photographer :Joshua
Weber|| Riderm: Daniel Toumine
Number seven.
not enough saturation but doesn't EVERYONE want to
ride this trail?!
Have a look at the week five here and select your own winner, check out what's rolling out for week six here or all the entries here.
Do you think Stephen should join the Professional photographers of Canada? Did he nail it? What do you think?
