Interbike Day 2
Words and photos byCam McRae

Last night was the premiere for NWD 4 - Disorderly Conduct.  Disorderly indeed.  It was a big night and the film was what we have come to expect from Freeride Entertainment; off the hook riding by some of the best in the world. I was particularly impressed with Cedric's segment, Wade's as well as those from Bearclaw and Matt Hunter.

From Dirty Girls to nsmb team riders to the new Marzocchi girls. L to R Kyle Strait, Lisa Lefroy, Brett Tippie, Katrina Strand and Ian Hylands.

The Bear with a busted claw.

Darren Berrecloth managed to finish his burly segment for NWD 4 but he did break his foot on the last day.  Surgery should speed his recovery but it looks like he'll be missing Rampage again this year.

The big question at Interbike is always 'did you see anything cool?'  The coolest items I've seen all show are the new Fox forks.  The 40 is the dual crown, so named for the 40mm stanchions and the 36 is the air sprung single crown.  The 40 weighs 6.8lbs, has external high and low speed compression damping as well as rebound damping as well as a great turning radius and a wide stiff platform.   Oh - did I mention the titanium spring?   The 36 weighs 5.2 lbs and Kyle Strait is thinking of using it at this year's Redbull Rampage.

Proof that the Syncros rear hub does indeed sport 6 bearings.

These pads could blow everything else out of the water if they work as well as Fox says they do.

Chris Gagan has been hard at work developing product for Fox clothing. His new rain jacket is nice and light and it has a hood with a unique drawstring that allows it to be worn under a helmet.  Apparently Chris drew it too tight at left.

The pads you see above are fricking cool.  The pads cross at the back of  your leg but instead of having to adjust and velcro them every time you just clip them into the front of the pad and you are ready to go.

Cruiser du jour - the Electra Rockabilly Boogy

I'm off to the final day of the show.  It truly challenges your stamina working the floor at Interbike - the Trans Rockies is nothing.  At the same time it's inspiring to see the imaginative kookiness that comes out of the bike world - like the chamois to the right here.   Also on display were a 9 lb road bike, Thomas Frischknecht's 9 kilo mountain bike and the endless wacky ideas that only make it to the show floor once despite the backing of high hopes.

We saw a lot more today but this was all time permitted us to bring back to you.  We'll be updating some more next week, after Canadian Thanksgiving.

Wish me luck.

Buring the flag is illegal and this is fine?
