Cove Bikes Signs Glyn O'Brien

NORTH VANCOUVER—Cove Bikes will add Northern Ireland native Glyn O’Brien to its growing list of superstars. O’Brien will represent the Cove on an International basis for the 2004/05 season.

“The UK has a strong scene and we needed good representation. It was a no-brainer we had to go with the UK’s top freerider and that’s Glyn,” said Gabe Fox, marketing manager at Cove Bike

O’Brien is predominantly known for his downhill skills. He’s the top Irish racer on the World Cup and has multiple Irish National championships under his belt.

It was his recent assault on the freeride scene however that had folks taking a second look at Glyn. O’Brien scored large at the 2003 Red Bull Rampage with standout performances against some of the best in the industry. Up against the likes of Vanderham, Watson and Schley, O’Brien soared to the occasion with a third place finish in the most prestigious freeride comp of the year.

“We were super fired up for him. Every time he got on his bike he ripped consistently. He stayed out of the whole [contest] hype, did his game and did it well,” said Watson.

This year, besides the Irish and British points series and selected World Cups in Europe and North America, O’Brien’s is thirsty for more Red Bull.

“I’m stoked to be representing Cove Bikes. I can’t wait to get my ‘craic’ on a Cove Bike,” O’Brien said in response to his recent hook-up.

Besides ripping-it on the race and Red Bull scene, O’Brien will be involved in R&D at Cove Bikes.
