Press Release
NSMB.COM announces the launch of its Freeride Team, 2002

Vancouver, British Columbia (April 29, 2002)

NSMB.com, an online magazine devoted to reporting on the freeride scene from Vancouver's North Shore, announced the launch of its inaugural Freeride team for the 2002 season. "We're very excited to be launching our first freeride team this year," said Cam McRae, one of the founders and Editor of NSMB.com, "we have a talented roster of riders who have each proven themselves in different ways. Most importantly, they're terrific people, who embody our idea of model mountain bikers and freeriders." Chosen based on their talents in disciplines such as urban trials, dirt jumping, trail riding, and DH/DS racing, the team represents the many types of two-wheeled fun that characterize freeriding.

"We put together the freeride team so we could extend our presence from the online community into the trails," says Pete Roggeman, Director of Marketing for NSMB.com and the Manager of the freeride team. "Having a freeride team allows us to give back to the community by way of participating in trail maintenance, leading group rides, and being a positive presence on the trails and at events."

Corporate sponsorships have been forthcoming. After holding up successfully to the rigors of testing on the Shore, Titec signed on and will be providing the team with its line of knock-rated stems, bars, seatposts and seats. Maxxis will be providing tires, and Deuter is providing packs for the riders. Other sponsors were still being confirmed at the time of this release.

Watch for NSMB team members on the trails in North Vancouver, Squamish, Whistler and Pemberton, as well as planned team trips to Whistler, Sun Peaks, Silver Star and Nelson. They will also be present at events such as the Tissot/UCI World Cup at Grouse Mountain, July 4-7, the Canadian National Championships in Kamloops from July 19-21, as well as various BC and Canada Cup races and other local events. But the main focus of the team is Freeriding, and that is what the team does best. They will spend a portion of each trip filming their riding, which will be available to view at www.nsmb.com.

Team captains Trevor Hansen and Eamonn Diugnan are responsible for building the aerial wonder called Air Supply on North Vancouver's Mt. Fromme. Annie Bisson is a DH/DS racer and stuntwoman who scored 10th at last year's Grouse Mountain World Cup Dual event, and is equally at home on motorcycles, having placed 3rd at the Canadian Arenacross Nationals. Chris Plumptre is a young up-and-comer known for huge drops and an aggressive style who will be seen in at least one upcoming mountain bike film. The total roster numbers 14, which is comprised of several members of the NSMB staff and others - for a complete team roster please see the contact info below.
