Evil Bikes was recently purchased by an undisclosed Seattle based management
group, who we will refer to as "The Project" for the time being.
The rider owned group has an extensive brand, product development, and design
history within the mountain bike industry.
Dave Weagle, the departing President of Evil and the man largely responsible
for Evil’s beginnings said, “I’m excited for the brand,
and excited for the group who is taking over. I’ve long wanted to see
Evil be able to compete in the higher end frame market but I’ve always
felt that doing so would be in conflict with Evil’s sister company
e.thirteen’s interests. The sale of the company will really allow Evil
to move on. I Kind of feel like what I imagine a parent feels like when their
first child leaves home and gets married. I’m proud of what our team
did with Evil, and the quality that the brand has stood for. I am looking
forward to watching as an outsider as the company works to fulfill its destiny.”
The new president of Evil Bikes ( who will remain anonymous at this time,
due to possible warrants), had this to say: "We apologize for the smoke
and mirrors introduction, but we want to allow ourselves the necessary time
to give you the best products possible, and letting the cat out of the bag
would be no fun. What we can say, is that we have assembled a rogue team
of hard charging industry veterans, designers, and riders with a common goal
of building a world class brand and a global community that services riders
everywhere. Evil has had a strong history of innovation and we are planning
to continue that with a full scale rebrand, lots of fun, and products designed
by people that ride bikes at least 3 days a week. Stay tuned, we’ll
be ready to show new softgoods and hardgoods in the near future. ” In
the meantime feel free to waste all of your free time starting rumors on
the interweb!, but for slightly more accurate news and updates, periodically
check the evil bikes website. evil-bikes.com.
Daily operations will kick off on or around April 1st, for sales or service

e.thirteen acquires Heim 3-Guide design and IP portfolio
e.thirteen components is proud to announce the acquisition of Montara Design’s
Heim product line and supporting IP portfolio. The addition of the Heim offerings
helps to diversify the already strong e.thirteen product line.
Dave Weagle, president of e.thirteen had this to say, “We’re
thrilled to bring the 3-Guide and Jon’s other designs into the e.thirteen
family. We’ve long recognized the quality and performance of the Heim
product, and its unique position in the marketplace. The timing to bring
a more Cross Country and All-Mountain lightweight product into our line is
perfect, and we’re excited to develop new designs that fall within
the scope of the Heim patent portfolio. We are dedicated and able to carry
on Heim’s tradition of quality, USA based manufacturing, and customer
service. The fit is just perfect for us, we couldn’t be more excited!”
Jon Heim, founder of Montara MTB and designer of the 3-Guide added, “I
could not be more stoked than to be working with Dave Weagle and the legendary
e.thirteen components! They are well known innovators and fellow bike geeks.
This is a true win-win situation – it frees me up to work on other
projects and go in some new directions, and expands e.thirteen’s product
line. They will be able to put a real sales and marketing effort behind the
products, something I’ve never been able to do. It also gives them
the intellectual property to expand their product lines.”
New designs incorporating e.thirteen’s Heim patent are planned to be
released in the coming weeks. A sneak peek of the upcoming first offering,
the lightweight 99 gram 3RS (3 Ring Security) is being released today.
e.thirteen components is a small, rider-owned and operated company that strongly
supports dozens of grassroots races, series, contests and other riding events
all over the world every year. Founded in 2001, e.thirteen’s innovative,
functional, simple and lightweight chain retention systems have made them
a world leader in this category, and the choice of top pro and amateur riders
and mechanics alike. They support a worldwide distribution network and take
great pride in offering devoted customer service.
