Craig Kelly was doing what he loved best when he died: snowboarding in the backcountry. The group he was with was caught in a convergence of three avalanches near Revelstoke, British Columbia. Despite the valiant efforts of the others in the party, seven individuals did not survive.

Craig Kelly was, by all accounts, the epitome of what is good about the outdoor lifestyle. Rather than continue down the rock star path, Craig opted instead for family, the backcountry, yoga and Tai Chi.

According to Sterling Lorence, Craig had also caught the mountain bike bug and had been enjoying the riding in Nelson, where he lived with his partner and their daughter.
