The Kona Bicycle Co. signs Paul Basagoitia, Carlin Dunne to Clump team
The future of freeriding joins veteran squad

KONAWORLD – The Kona Bicycle Company today announced that they have added Carlin Dunne and Paul Basagoitia to the Kona Clump team of freeride phenoms. Dunne and Basagoitia literally leapt into freeride’s pro ranks. Dunne with his clean Moreno Gap jump in last year’s Ultimate Freeride Challenge, and Bas with his surprise and well-deserved win at this year’s Crankworx contest in Whistler, B.C.

Both riders are young and relatively new to the mountain bike freeride arena. 21-year-old Dunne comes from an MX background and only started applying his skills to mountain bikes three years ago. 18-year-old Paul Bas has a BMX background and stepped up to mountain bikes just last year. Both riders have brought their skills into the mountain bike world and will be forces that push the evolution of skills and style in freeride mountain biking.

“Carlin and Paul are the new generation of freeriders. They are remarkable athletes with strong backgrounds in BMX and Motocross competition. They're also well spoken and approachable guys that are we are proud to have as Kona representatives and our sport,” said Jacob Heilbron, Kona’s CoB. “When we add the experience and coaching of John Cowan and Dave Watson, these riders will take Kona and freeriding to the next level.”

Carlin and Paul had their official intro party at InterBike with segments in Freeride Entertainment’s New World Disorder 5 “Disorderly Conduct”.
