BIKE Magazine Announces the Second Annual Reader Poll and Video Awards
Recognizing the Mountain Biking Industry’s Best Athletes and Videographers
BIKE MAGAZINE ANNOUNCES NOMINEES FOR 2005 BIKE VIDEO AND READER POLL AWARDS
(Dana Point, CA – April 6, 2005) – BIKE Magazine, part of PRIMEDIA’S
Action Sports Group (ASG), today announced the nominees for the 2005 BIKE Video
and Reader Poll Awards. Now in its second year, the awards show will take place
April 16, 2005, at The Hyatt in Monterey, CA, coinciding with Sea Otter.
“After reviewing countless hours of video, the staff of BIKE Magazine
has come up with what we feel are the standout accomplishments in the mountain
bike film world for the past year,” said Ron Ige, BIKE’s editor.
“Each season the level of filmmaking and the riding it captures goes to
a higher level, which should make this year’s awards show the best ever.”
High-profile athletes such as Cedric Gracia, Darren Berrecloth, and Kyle Strait
are just a few of the notables scheduled to descend on the awards show. Each
year the show builds on its reputation as the premier event recognizing not
only the who’s who in mountain biking, but, with awards like the newly
established Breakthrough Performance category, the BIKE Magazine Video Awards
is also establishing what will be the sport’s next big thing.
The BIKE Magazine Video Awards honor the mountain bike world’s best filmmakers
and top athletes in categories such as Best Line, Best Performance, Movie of
the Year, Photo of the Year, and Best Singletrack, recognizing the outstanding
film performances of the past year. Additionally, the show will feature the
Reader Poll Awards, which recognized mountain biking’s top five male and
top three female mountain bikers of the year as determined by votes from the
readers of BIKE Magazine. About 1,000 people attended the event last year and
even more are expected this year.
BIKE Magazine Video and Reader Poll Awards is the official venue for the announcement
of the 2005 Ultimate Freeride Challenge winner!
2005 BIKE Video and Reader Poll Awards is presented by Fox Racing, Fox Shox,
Red Bull, Ultimate Freeride Challenge, New Belgium, Specialized, Magura, Panaracer,
Kryptonite, Oakley and Dakine.
Doors open at 8:00 p.m. and the awards show begins promptly at 8:30 p.m.
