This year's comp is off to a photogenic start but Harookz managed to pan
the biggest nuggets out of the gold that was submitted.
Below you'll see his choice for the winner of week one as well as some other
shots that he appreciated.
But first - note about the submissions. We like
to think you have some skills with Photoshop or other editing programs as
well as behind the lens. If
you don't it's time to get that sorted. I'm not talking about adjusting
the white balance with RAW files or anything challenging or artistic. My
issue is sizing your image. We've asked that the largest dimension
of the files you submit is 1000 pixels. So if it's a portrait it
should be 1000 pixels tall and if it's a landscape it should be 1000 pixels
wide. If
it suits your image you can make it a 1000 x 1000 square. Making it
much larger than that will have your photo off the screen of many monitors
and if you make it smaller and you are selling yourself short. Re-size
them first and then upload them ready to go for maximum points.
Here's what Harookz had to say about his pick of this week's litter.
This week's winner receives a pair of Step Up gloves from
Dakine.
I love the use of natural light! Awesome separation! Timing is pretty much
bang on! Evening light sessions in the interior of British Columbia... they
are hard to top! Hands down the winner of week number one.
Week One Winner. Cam McCaul filming for NWD 8 in
Kamloops.

The composition and use of lines separates this one from the rest, good eye!
The colors look a bit on the "cold" side... tweak the white-balance
or shoot warmer film? I would have liked to see the rider captured in a different
riding position but all in all, a great shot!
The first runner up.
Photo~ Graham Archer. Rider ~ Martin
There's a certain amount of dedication required to get a shot like this.
It may not be quite as "technically sound" as the first and second
place entries but it's always cool to see something drastically different!
Self Portrait ~ Tyler Reid
Wow.... the scenery is all time! Apocalypse styles! I would have liked to
have seen this rider shredding a trail in this environment.
NQ
If it wasn't for the gigantic wheel size, this right here
would have been my winner this week! This is sooo sick...... it made me
laugh..... i love it..... i really don't know what else to say but....
NINJA'S RULE!!

Week two is under way here.
What do you think about this week's selections? Did Harookz nail it
or did you see it differently. Comments and compliments here.
