The ultimate style accessory for your ride |
So you think your bike is fully pimped out, right? You've got the latest components, those super-sweet rims, and that awesome DH saddle. Well, you're not quite finished if you don't have a set of bar-end caps.
NYC Freeride is a small rider-driven company out of the Big Apple trying to make a functional and aesthetic impact on the freeride / DH scene with its cockpit components. In addition to CNC'd stems and deep-insertion headsets, NYC also makes some sweet bar-end caps. We got our hands on a set of NYC's OG bar caps and have been running them for a few months now. The black alloy caps, which feature laser-engraved NYC Freeride logos, are slightly larger than the outside diameter of standard grips and use three setscrews to clamp on to your handlebar. |

Installation is dead easy, and the flared inner edge of the caps sits comfortably against the edge of your palm. The only thing that would improve the OGs is if they were compatible with ODI's Lock-on grips. As it stands, the OGs are the same diameter as ODI clamps so you can run the two side-by-side without any raised edges to worry about. That set-up is also nice because it gives you a little extra grip to work with if you're like me and find the Grip Shift-length ODI grips too narrow. |
The OGs are just the ticket for completing your two-wheeled masterpiece, and you can order them directly from the NYC Freeride Web site for US$25 plus shipping. Go here to pick up a set and make all your friends jealous. But be careful not to drop your bike on the pavement once you've got them installed, because the caps will get scratched. And that would definitely be a bad thing. |

We'll be posting a review of NYC Freeride's Blox stem in the not-too-distant future, so stay tuned for that.
