There was a noticeable uptick in the number of booths set up today, so we set out to scour the newcomers and see what sorts of unusual things we could turn up. Norco and RaceFace were more than happy to show us what they’d brought along.

Norco Bigfoot

New for 2014, the Norco Bigfoot re-emerges from the woods as a fatbike. According to Norco, the bike is aimed at those who are looking to expand their quiver of bikes at an affordable cost.

This particular bike was raced by noted wordsmith Seb Kemp in the Fat Tire Crit, and was still sporting the plate when we saw it.

The frame and fork are composed entirely of aluminum, and are burly enough to handle Shore riding should you choose to do so.

The 4″ wide tyres should carry riders over all but the deepest snow and sand.

Seems like bar-mounted bells are the must-have accessory for 2014.

RaceFace

New for 2014, RaceFace is producing a 35mm diameter handlebar in their Sixc, Atlas, Next and Turbine lines.

The DH/FR oriented SIXC and Atlas will be 800mm wide, while the trail-focused NEXT and Turbine will stretch to 760mm.

Accompanying the bars are the Atlas and Turbine stem. The Atlas will come in both standard and Direct-Mount configurations.

Also new for 2014 is the Aeffect saddle. Designed in-house by RaceFace, it runs the gamut of applications from XC to DH.

The Aeffect runs on Titanium rails, and features a slightly longer nose for seated climbs.

Another day, another set of cool gear. Have you gotten a chance to check out the expo yet?

Any pictures of the raceface wheels?

Sadly they didn’t have them there for the Expo. I would suspect we’ll see a roll out around Interbike or Eurobike though.

    why 35mm bars???

    • AmCan

If you can make them lighter and wider without sacrificing any strength, why not? Stiffness will remain the same as 31.8mm, so for someone looking to upgrade their cockpit, it’s a great way to save some weight. All 31.8mm bars will still be available for those that don’t want to make the jump.
