Agreed about the fine balance between max value and over spending. Built up a
steel hardtail last spring and it's been the least I've spent on a bike in a
decade and the most fun I've had in years. I do admit to never having tried a
mtb wheel over 26″, so maybe ignorance is bliss, to some extent.
