Nope, that's gnarly terrain on a trail bike:

That area looks like a lot of fun!

Whoah, that vid posted by STARILATER was insane, those crazy Euros!

Reminds me of a few videos a long-time Flickr contact has made and could fit into this article well: http://vimeo.com/33041072

I think your gnar-radar is broken this morning. The sections of the Oyster Dome trail featured in the Lars-N-Bars video don't do it justice. I've hiked it 50+ times, and it's a lot nastier than it looks in that vid. Lars and Slaven are also riding it rowdy as shit.

I agree with Henry. That root face is much steeper in person. These are the first guys that I've heard of riding it and I would bet they're the only ones to do it on trail bikes and xc helmets.

Gnarly shit but rippin past hikers on hiking trails and leaving long unnecessary skid marks aren't doing us mountain bikers any favors when it comes to promoting more access for mountain bikers. Just my $.02 worth.

OK, I was a little too offensive with my previous post. The trail Lars & buddy did in the video is indeed very technical, my intent was not to diminish their riding & skills (which are on a very high level). And as always, it's very hard to properly capture the steepness, exposure and overall difficulty while filming.

Although my Euro-Alps gnar meter says in small print - if you can "solve" the tech section with more speed, it's not gnarly enough :) The trail on the video I linked suits that description as you need to be in total control almost all the time and minimize the risk/fall.

Personally I did enjoy the first Lars & Bars more as it showed something different.
