X-Fusion Signs Brian Lopes
January 6, 2012
X-Fusion is pleased to announce the signing of 4-time World Champion Brian Lopes. A Mountain Bike and BMX Hall of Fame member, Lopes professional cycling career has spanned over 20 years. During that time, he has won over 19 titles and still has more World Cup event wins than any other male athlete in history.

“There were a lot of athletes looking to ride X-Fusion for 2012, but we decided to work with Brian because he offers more than just a marketing face for the brand”, says X-Fusion Marketing Manager John Hauer. “We’ve already benefitted from his testing expertise and since he is riding everything from cross-country to downhill to pump tracks to dirt jumps, he can positively affect our entire product line.”

X-Fusion’s close relationship with another local Santa Cruz company, Ibis Cycles, also helped with the partnership between Brian and X-Fusion.

“Around Interbike, I found out Ibis was using X-Fusion forks and shocks on their Special Blend complete bikes”’ says Lopes. “All the Ibis guys there were raving about the performance, so I knew it was something I should check out”.

Lopes has signed with X-Fusion for two years, and for he plans to take part in a diverse competitive schedule of events consisting of Sprint Eliminator, Enduro, Super D, Downhill and Dual Slalom Races.
Will X-Fusion suspension put Lopes back on top in the A-Line Air DH in 2012? Your predictions below...

oh man... how long has he been on marzocchi? does not bode well for the future of the bomber. big pickup for xfusion though. given they don't have a dh fork, lopes would seem to be a perfect high profile athlete for their lineup
I wonder how much that cost them $$$$$$
I can do without that d bag representing Marzocchi.
Brian Lopes is a classless tool.
Hopefully it's not the gloom that Boom is predicting, just a downsizing of douchebags.

"There were a lot of athletes looking to ride X-Fusion for 2012, but we decided to work with Brian because he offers more than just a marketing face for the brand, he offers an entire marketing upper body. Most of the other riders we talked with talked to us with their shirts on, and being so covered up we felt like we just weren't getting as much of them as we'd like. With Brian's chest and insecurity on display 24/7, we feel like he is presenting as much of himself and our brand image as is legal in most counties. We've already benefitted from his testing expertise and since he is riding everything from cross-country trails that he didn't build to downhill trails that he didn't build to pump tracks that he didn't build to dirt jumps that he didn't build, he can positively affect our entire product line. Since signing Brain last week we've already started sending all our forks out with sunglasses, and using one of Brian's pro tuning tricks from Marzocchi we pour an extra 2 quarts of oil into all our forks now. Because he rode Marzocchi's for like 10 years or something we trust that he really knows suspension." - John Hauer, X-Fusion Marketing Manager |

I was thinking of buy an X-Fusion to replace my Marzocchi. Marzocchi stopped forging lowers, bolting on arches, and using all metal parts in their forks a long time ago. I hate them now because they suck. I don't pay much attention to Cryin' Brian because basically does the same. Maybe he's the reason Marz' went DH. Maybe having a strong & durable fork isn't as important as a shitty lightweight one that makes Cryin' Brian look good. Brian, everyone who gives a shit what you're doing, is either a nobody, or they're pretending. Fuck off you arrogant douche.

team robot ftw
I figure Lopes is in the twilight of his career. Probably costs less to sponsor him now versus his glory years or other prominent riders. Could it be that since Marzocchi may be out now that Lopes had to look for a suspension sponsor?
