Today was the Air DH which is the longest running event for Crankworx. With over 40 jumps descending down in under 5 minutes Brian Lopes once again showed everyone why he owns this event. In the Pro womens Anne Caro Chausson won again and is now three 1st place medals deep. She seems unbeatable!
In the evening we headed out to the Saint Deep Summer photo challenge which has quickly become the benchmark for an outdoor sports photo contest. BC local and 3 time Arctyrex Deep Winter photo contest winner Jordan Manley once again showed the world how innovative and original his photography and shows are. Actually all the competitors put on great shows. Last but not least we ventured into the late night to check out the Deraylor Music festival which is at the Whistler hotspots and saw BCDC, RA the rugged Man and partied it up into the early AM. Next up we'll be covering the VW trick showdown and see the inaugural Monster Energy pumptrack challenge
WHISTLER, BC, August 11, 2010 – The Air DH took over the Whistler Mountain Bike Park with over 381 competitors ripping down the most famous DH course in the world, A-Line. Brian Lopes continued his reign in the No. 1 spot with a sixth (fifth in a row) Air DH title, scoring the fastest time of the day at 4:15.69. The Air DH field housed many current UCI World Cup riders and also saw a few previous World Cup riders reach the podium.

Sam Blenkinsop seems to be getting faster and faster.
The Air DH course runs the entire length of A-Line, finishing at the base of the Bike Park with the legendary GLC Drop. A-Line is arguably the most celebrated DH course in mountain biking, with nearly 50 jumps on the course. A-Line is the benchmark all DH courses strive to emulate. “It was definitely a fast course today compared to last year,” said Leslie Tomlinson, event announcer and mountain bike Olympian. “The dry conditions definitely contributed to the faster times.” Lopes’ time was nearly 5 seconds faster this year.
“I knew I had to get on the pedals today,” said Lopes. “It was super rough in the middle but I knew I had to put together a good run.”

Lopes rode a carbon IBIS mojo to victory on A Line.
Lopes (USA), claimed first with a time of 4:15.69 and dedicated his win to Oakley Senior Executive Steve Blick’s son, Tyler who was recently diagnosed with Leukemia; Samuel Blenkinsop (NZL) took second place with a time of 4:16.17; Gee Atherton (GBR), took third place with a time of 4:18.48.

Gee chose a big bike for the air DH
In the Pro Women category, Anne Caro Chausson (FRA) was able to hold off current world champ Emmeline Ragot (FRA) to take the top spot with a time of 4:38.21; Rachel Atherton (GBR) took third with a time of 4:41.15.
Perhaps the most dominant gravity athlete ever, Anne Caroline Chausson shows no signs of slowing after five years off the DH bike.
Remi Gauvin was the fastest Canadian stand out in the Junior Men’s category, taking second spot. Top spot was claimed by New Zealand rider Bryn Dickerson who beat Gauvin by sixteen one-hundreths of a second.
