June 1st Golden BC . . . Kicking Horse Mountain Resort opens for summer operations on Friday June 11th. As part of the opening weekend celebrations the mountain is partnering up with Golden to host a great weekend of fun on the mountain June 11th – 13th.

“Kicking Horse Mountain Resort is declaring summer opening weekend, ‘Locals Appreciation Weekend’ by extending free lift access for all residents who bring a donation for the Golden Food Bank (valued at $10 or more) on Friday June 11th and Saturday June 12th,” says Steve Paccagnan, President of Kicking Horse Mountain Resort. “The weekend is a great opportunity to find out more about Kicking Horse Mountain Resorts summer products along with supporting some great local charity incentives.”

Over the weekend, the Day Lodge will play host to the annual Rotary Club Silent Charity Auction.    With a diverse selection of donations ranging from toys to hardware and sporting goods to extravagant weekend getaways, it is well worth your while to browse and submit a bid on some of the items.    All funds from the Silent Auction go directly to funding the Golden Rotary Club programs.

The Golden Farmers Market will be set up in the plaza on Saturday June 12th for the first of three farmers markets hosted on the mountain. Stroll through the plaza at Kicking Horse Mountain Resort and check out some work from local artisans and take advantage of some local produce.    The market will be complimented with a live performance from John Jenkins (12pm – 2pm) and Tony Bell (2pm – 4pm).

To help make this weekend a true locals weekend, Kicking Horse Mountain Resort is partnering with Tourism GoldenandKickingHorseCountryChamberofCommerceon‘BeaVisitorinKickingHorseCountry’. This simple concept is a great way to find out more about all the great activities in Kicking Horse Country. The event is open to Kicking Horse Country Chamber of Commerce businesses members who will provide prizes that will be hidden in Gondola Cabins throughout the day. When guests ride the Gondola they are encourage to check under the seat for coupons and prizes for local businesses.

Summer Seasons Passes are on sale now for $69 with access to the Grizzly Bear Refuge and Golden Eagle Express for sightseeing and hiking. Early Bird Mountain Bike Park season passes are on sale for $199. Pass holder perks include 10% off for your guests ticket and purchases at the Eagle’s Eye and Canyon Creek Outfitters (excluding alcohol). Don’t delay as the last day to take advantage of Bike Park early bird rates is June 13th 2010.
