Dear Wade Contest
Win a Trip To Costa Rica with Wade
Date: 2008-12-17
Big Mountain's Dear Wade contest is well under way so we thought we'd give you an update and show you some of the entries. First a prizing update. Wade's sponsors Oakley and Bell have sweetened the pot - and it was already brimming with honey from Rocky Mountain, Dakine and Sombrio. Add a pair of Crowbar goggles and a set of ultra fly shades (model tbd) from Oakley and two sick lids from Bell; a Drop full face and a Faction dj helmet.
As if the pot needed sweetening! Wade's sponsors Oakley and Bell have ponied up goggles, shades and two new helmets to keep you protected in Costa Rica.
To enter just send a photo and a hundred words or less explaining why you should be shuttling in the sun in Costa Rica with Wade this February. That's right you'll win a 9 day riding trip with Big Mountain Adventures and Wade Simmons. Check the entries below to get the idea - and to see if you can do better. Once you are ready to enter send your bid put Dear Wade in the subject line and fire a message to info@ridebig.com. The winner will be chosen on January 15th so get on it.

Big changes are coming my way.
I am nearly finished 13 years of school. My wife wants to start having kids. I need to get a real job and won't be able to ride my bike any time of day while my friends work. My 31st birthday falls during the Costa Rica trip, and officially marks the point in my life where I have spent most of my time alive as a mountain biker. What better way to celebrate than with big bikes and cold beer in a warm country. My alternate riding plans for February in Yukon?

Dear Dear Mr. Simmons,
Here’s the dealio. My mom deserves the trip because she is super rad for always taking care of me (I’m only 19 months) even when she wants to be out riding. AND, when my dad comes home from work, my mom goes to her other job.
When my folks got married, they didn’t have much money so they hit up BC for a camping style honeymoon. Her first non-xc ride was Pipeline where she broke her pinkie finger on the rock rollers. My mom still reminds my dad that he owes her a “hot honeymoon”. This year my dad got her a big bike and we went to Whistler. After her first run down CIU, she was all smiles. She must’ve lapped it ten times that day and ten the next with a couple of Garbo runs thrown in for variety. She couldn’t even ride the third day, her hands were so sore.
If anyone deserves it she does. Thanks Mr. Simmons
Peace out,
Joelle H.

I want to go with you to Costa Rica, because I like to go “mental riding.” Let me explain. I am from South Carolina. I have been to Whistler twice in my life. I have mentally ridden Whistler trails more times than I can count. I haven’t just remembered riding in Whistler; I have mentally ridden entire trails top to bottom at work, home, even in church. I need more trails to ride in my mind. Wade, if you pick me, you are allowing me to mentally ride Costa Rica for the rest of my life.

NSMB has teamed up with Wade Simmons and Big Mountain Bike Adventures and created an art contest that’ll get you stoked to ride. And if you win, you’ll be really, REALLY stoked to ride. And if you don’t win, we’re sure that you’ll at least be entertained.

The grand prize is sick: a 9-day DH trip with Wade in Costa Rica. That’s right, you get to hang and ride with the Godfather of Freeride on some of the sweetest DH trails on the planet in mid-winter.
How to enter?
It’s simple. Send Wade 100 words or less and 1 photo and explain why you deserve to ride with him in Costa Rica. And don’t bore the Godfather; he wants you to think outside the box and be creative. The photo might not even be a photo, but a drawing or a finger painting. Whatever it is, put some sweet words to it, make it relevant and pull it all together somehow.
