When the whole Lumberjack story first went online, I was pretty surprised by the blowback over the whole “We won’t be corporate fascists” thing.  It wasn’t really my intention to suggest that we were planning to head for the hills to live out our days launching guerrilla attacks on Coca-Cola bottling plants in our Che Guevara t-shirts.  It was more a function of trying to put a spin on the whole Google-style “Don’t be evil” thing.  And, I mean, since Google has pretty much turned evil, it seemed like a good idea to create some stronger rhetoric.  The plan was to suggest that this little company was going to be about improving things as much as possible by giving back to the trails and by doing positive things to inspire you to help out.

This plan involved creating ideas and projects similar to the first I ride here shirt that was launched a few years back.  You guys bought that shirt in far greater numbers than I would have ever anticipated and a nice little chunk of cash was made for the NSMBA.  Hooray for us.  It was a good idea, but we’re still not quite there.

Let’s take a look at things.  First up, we’re very soon going to lose a few trails on Cypress.  On Fromme we face a bizarre ban on night riding and uncertainty hanging over our heads in the form of the Fromme Mountain Sustainable Trail Use and Classification Plan.  Seymour seems to be the only one of the three mountains without an immediate threat, but who the hell knows when that is going to change?  Our only way to fight any of this is to pay attention, help out when we can and support the NSMBA.

Cam approached me a month or so back about doing another run of I ride here shirts.  I decided that now would be a really good time to re-assess the whole idea and I talked him into letting me make a new shirt.  I had some ideas in my head and I really wanted to do something that was cleaner, bolder and more colourful.  I also wanted to do something that would get people thinking about the trails and the NSMBA.  So, here’s the second I ride here shirt.  It will only cost you a measly 25 dollars and a full 10 of that goes straight to the NSMBA.  I’ll say it again – the only way we will continue to have trails on the North Shore is by SUPPORTING THE NSMBA!

As an added bonus, we’ve put some into a local shop so you don’t have to pay shipping and all that if you happen to be a local.  If you find it easier, please head on down to North Shore Bike Shop and Matt will sell you one of our shirts.  If you hurry, you might be able to get one in gray.  It’s a little bit more subtle but I think it works.
