Evil
We first got to know Todd Seplavy when he was the product manager for Ironhorse. When things imploded there he went to work for Specialized. Living out west didn't make for a happy homelife so when an opportunity to be the product guy for the re-birth of Evil Bikes came along it was just the ticket. Evil will be based in Seattle but Todd will work remotely from the east coast.
This was robbed from the Evil Web site. This is all we have to go on so far. Click the image to go to the site.
Todd gave Pete and I a rundown on what Evil is up to - and it's no one horse operation. Gabe Fox, who was most recently the product manager for Cove Bikes, will be handling the Canadian operations and their number one rider - Thomas Vanderham - has already had a lot of input into the bikes. The rumours that both were moving to a 'new west coast brand' had been swirling for some time so it's nice to finally put them to bed. They have also signed a promising downhiller to their team but that can't be announced just yet. Dave Weagle, the founder and former owner of Evil, will be involved on the design side but the bikes are not DW link machines. I don't know much yet about the 'DELTAsystem except that the geometry has two settings; a 64 degree low bb setting and a 66 degree position with a slightly higher bb for the Revolt - a DH bike with 203 mm of travel.
Evil didn't have a booth at the show - electing instead to meet with media and potential dealers in their suite in the Venetian. They also weren't travelling with any bikes - so this Revolt from their Web site is all we can see for the moment.
Todd went through things fairly quickly - and I was a hurting unit by the end of the day Friday quite frankly - but I remember him telling us there would be two more duallie models and three hardtails. While a couple of the original Evil names live on the bikes themselves will be brand new.
With a little luck we'll finally see Thomas riding his new bike at Rampage later this week. I'll be sure to send some shots right away if that's the case. Until that time all we can do is wait to see the fruit of Todd and the rest of the team's labour.
Fergs
As you may know it's become a bit of a tradition to shoot photos of Fergs with as many booth babes and other willing victims as possible. We got a great selection this year so I'll give you a couple of shots now - without emptying the magazine completely.
This young lass claimed it was her 17th birthday. I think even 21 was stretching the truth to the breaking point. She liked Fergs though.
Under Hef's approving gaze. The NWD warm up party was at the Playboy Club in the Palms hotel. Good food and drink, fantastic service and about 25 kilos of silicone. No hanky panky though - this was not your average Vegas gentlemen's club.
Fergs was adopted by this nice Indian family while we were trolling in the Venetian Grand Canal.
More booth babes with Fergs later.
Two hours of free drinks had Gully and the rest of us well lubed.

We have more stuff from Syncros on the way but these carbon rims couldn't wait any longer. Just 330 grams and Syncros is confident they'll be able to take some abuse. Can't wait to try and break a pair.
Ed already reported on the avantix bike from Delta 7 Sports but more info has become available since that time. One of them came back from a dirt demo lap missing a head tube. That's gotta hurt - the rider and the company. A complete mountain bike is apparently in the $12,000 range. Apparently the frames are very compliant - perhaps too much so.
