Money Shot Finalists
Five Shooters Throw it Down
Words by Cam McRae.
Date: 2008-05-14
It seems like it's been a long road to get to the finals this year - but we've made it here in one piece. The April winners will stand, despite some misgivings about one of the finalists. We'll let him go ahead and see if he gets some things figured out. The finals gallery will open on Monday May 19th and it will close on Monday May 26th. Best to have all your photos in by Sunday to be sure. Finalists will be able to submit one photo at a time, a few together or all at once. That will be up to them. Once the gallery is populated with 25 shots we'll get our pro judges back in to choose our grand champion who will accompany us to Whistler for Kokanee Crankworx 2008.
The March winners were Josef Mrazek and Allan MacVicor. For April Devan Wyka and Jan Tekel were the top of the heap. The wildcard spot went to a shooter who displayed solid talent throughout the competition but who didn't manage to win a week. I wanted to see some tenacity as well as a variety of high quality shots. After looking through scores of images by several shooters I zeroed in on Tyler Reid's shots and gave him the nod. I got the sense from Tyler's photos that he's committed to his craft and that tipped the scales. He also shows great consistency - with very few mediochre images. It wasn't an easy choice to be sure but I'm stoked to have him joining us in the finals. Congrats Tyler.

We'll let you know once the finals get under way. Things should get interesting now. Good luck to the finalists - and now get out there and get some fresh shots for the comp.
