Two Weeks Broken

Just about two weeks ago I had a little fall with some big consequences. What started off as a nice relaxing day turned into a disaster when I fell off a structure in the Whistler Bike park and ended up with a broken leg. The team was up in Whistler for the second Fire and Dirt show in the boneyard and as I was practicing for the show I had a little slip and ended up in the Whistler clinic. Two tibial breaks were found at the clinic. Once I was home I had a minor surgery to repair some damaged ligaments and remove two bone fragments that were floating around in my ankle joint. Unfortunately when I was X-rayed down in the city another break was found, this time on the fibulla! I’ll be on the couch for a little bit, just in time for the good weather.
Here are some pictures of me before I knew that I had broken my leg, I thought at this point that I was going to get away with some sort of serious sprain. As it turns out I will be sitting for at least another 4 weeks, drinking lots of milk and enjoying the start of the summer without a bike underneath me. After two weeks I am realizing how much I am missing riding, I spent the afternoon laying out new syncros
bike parts for installation onto my bike when I am ready to ride. I want to make sure that the only thing that is holding me back from riding is my leg. I can guarantee that by the time my prison sentence of an injury is done my bikes will be looking great!
Tomorrow I go back to the Doctor to get another check up and make sure that my joint is doing alright. Hopefully I’ll get into a walking boot because my left leg is losing muscle every day. On the bright side my right leg is super strong. I’m looking forward to the start of August, and my return to the pedals!
